La Corvina (Argyrosomus regius)// The Bass.

La Corvina (Argyrosomus regius), es muy apreciada en nuestro municipio y juega un papel importante, en el que hacer diario y marinero. Es por todos sabido que es un pez de bastante longitud y que no se deja coger luchando hasta el final cuando se captura con caña, por lo que es muy apreciado para su pesca. Además en el uso gastronómico tiene un alto valor.

De las gónadas de las corvinas se saca una “piedrecita” blanca que se utiliza en joyería para la formación de collares y otros usos.

Descripción//Description:

Cuerpo alargado con el hocico redondeado, la boca es ancha con los dientes pequeños y puntiagudos. De color gris plateado aclarándose algo por los laterales que pueden tener reflejos dorados, el vientre es plateado claro. El borde de la cola es prácticamente recto. Mancha oscura poco diferenciada sobre el oérculo. Interior de la boca amarillo dorado.

Puede superar los 90 kg, y legar a medir casi 2 m. Las escamas son grandes y las tiene también en la cabeza, aunque estas son más pequeñas.

Distribución//Distribution:

Los alevines hasta el tamaño de “corvinata”, se encuentran en estuarios y en las Marismas como las del Odiel. Donde encuentra refugio y alimento hasta marchar al mar. También los adultos frecuentan estas marismas abiertas al mar, aunque cada vez en menor medida.

El Plan Nacional de Cría de Corvina (PLANACOR), financiado por JACUMAR, y desarrollado por seis Comunidades Autónomas, tiene como finalidad fundamental la reproducción en cautividad de esta especie. Hecho que ha tenido lugar por primera vez en España durante mayo de 2006 en el LIMIA (Puerto de Andratx, Mallorca, Baleares) y en junio de 2006 en el Centro El Toruño del IFAPA (El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz, Andalucía).

Es un pez que suele desplazarse en bancos de pocos individuos que persiguen hasta la superficie a los peces de los que se alimentan vorazmente.

Gran requerimiento nutricional de A. regious en sus estadios larvarios, consecuencia de su rápido crecimiento.

Este año la captura por parte de los barcos puntaumbrieños ha sido de 40.000 kilos que trajeron dos barcos, con lo que el valor de la corvina en puerto bajo en compra hasta 3€/kg. (Aunque este no será el valor €/kg en la plaza de abastos).
